Crawley

Went to Crawley on Wednesday evening, good turn out of old blokes.
Hardly any BMXicans. Those that were there kept out of our way.

Here's Jellyhead in the bowl shot on my phone camera.

Z36

I decided to set up the Z36 that I bought years ago second hand off of ebay.
I stripped the old griptape off, sanded it down spray lacquered it first.

It's a biggy at 9.75" by 36.5"

I was feeling a bit cramped on the Cockfight
and I people kept saying it looked too small for me. It is nice though and I skated better on it the other week than I have in years.

I had fitted the Pool Bombers to it though and it was looking a bit monster truck in proportions with the extra risers required to avoid wheelbite with 64mm wheels.

The Cockfight is now back to ¼" risers and the Lance Mountain Parkburners.

The Pool Bombers on on this Z with some Indy's that I got from someone on MAS who described them as 159's. Not sure what size they are as Indy can't measure anything properly but they are Stage 5 and at 9" wider than my Stage 8's which are probably 166's (who knows).

Anyway they've been spray painted to make them look like anodised ones (they don't). It'll soon chip off anyway.

I fitted Tracker inverted kingpins and Bones medium Hardcores in them.

I may have gone overboard with the risers again as there are wheelwells on the deck front and rear. I went for a ½" on the back and a ½" - ¼" wedge on the front to liven up the 17.25" wheelbase a bit.

Unlucky Clover

Got up early and drove round the rainy M25 to Biggin Hill to meet up with Jellyhead, 70's Steve and Sk8Goa Nick.

Took some phonecam shots of the graffiti that's appeared...

Once the rain stopped it dried out very quickly.

Then I made the mistake of getting my camera out and it started raining again, I hadn't even dialled in the settings, ISO and WB way out from taking pictures of cameras indoors the other day. Only took one photo before having to pack everything away.

Cosmic Thing

Picked this up at a car boot sale yesterday for £2.
It's a Cosmic 35, also known as a Smena 8 (Смена 8), made between '63 and '71 by LOMO in Leningrad.

The body is made of a Bakerlite like material.

Phone Pano

My mobile phone camera has a panoramic function that automatically stitches together 3 shots.
I took this on my walk yesterday, I thought it came out okay especially as it was too sunny to really see the screen clearly.

My old Mate

Got some of the special edition XO Marmite. Presentation box is almost too good to open. Might have to get another jar so I can keep this one.

Using four specially selected yeast sources, our master blender has crafted the secret Marmite recipe and matured it for four times longer to create a Marmite so strong and full-bodied it can only be for the most devoted of lovers.

Chopped 8 wheeler

I thought I'd try and make my 8 wheeler a bit more rideable.
When I bought it I thought that a 33.5" x 13" deck with a 18.5" wheelbase sounded good.
However it was very unmanageable with the long wheelbase.
After chatting with my mate Loco Larry I decided to move the front trucks back, it now has a 15.875" wheelbase and has lost a few inches from the nose in a Lonnie Toft snub-nose inspired look.

I also took the time to replace the bushings with Bones Soft Hardcores all round while I had it stripped down.

Cross Processed Jelly

I've just got some prints back from processing.
This was one of the rolls of slide film that Jellyhead gave me, it's Kodak Elite Chrome Extra Colour 100. I had it processed as C41 instead of E6 (basically treated as a print film and not slide) by Online Photo Centre, great service, posted to them on Wednesday and back today.
I ran the film through the Konica Pop that I got last year.

Trucks of the past - part 5

Bit of an obvious one today, Rebound trucks, the tweakers delight, 2 kingpins, 4 bushings, no pivots.
I hadn't realised until recently that these came in 2 widths.
Made by Ermico who went on to make Indy's

Trucks of the past - part 4

ACS Lite II's, I always wanted some of these.

Those ACS/Vans collaboration rollerskates were nice too, wouldn't mind some of those with the 580 hangers.

End Of The Century Party

One of my favourite albums of all time.
Released on the On-U sound label, I can't believe this is 20 years old now.
Dub/Acid House/Blues/Rock. Whatever.
Bim Sherman, Keith Levene, The Barmy Army and many more add to the mix.

I saw Gary Clail live a couple of times, once in Brighton and once in London which was possibly at the Mean Fiddler (can't remember, must have been a good night) we went to the pub next door before the gig and ended up having a few drinks with Gary and Craig Charles.

Give it a listen

Happy Easter

We went to Unit1 and Bob did an impersonation of Jeebus on the cross with his ear on fire.
Not really but it came out that way.

Keep on trucking rock fakie.

Pool Bombers

Some free Pool Bombers courtesy of my kOoK friend Andre.
Purple and yellow done with powdered Rit Dye, Tangerine and Scarlet using the liquid.
I think the powder gives a more even result. 1st time I've used it, got that for free from my kOoK friend Patti.
